On September 14th, 2017, the dbp digital project was honoured to welcome the historian Arselle de Andrade Fontoura and the staff member Leandro, from the Historical Archive of Joinville, who made a visit to the installations of the Universidade Federal do Paraná (UFPR) in which the dbp digital project is developed.
During the morning, the visitors got to know the digitization room, where members of the project digitize various materials from archives and partner institutions of the project. As a demonstration of the work routine on the room, some exemplars of the old newspaper Kolonie-Zeitung from Joinville, brought by the guests, were also digitized in high definition. The digitization of the newspaper is an object of the cooperation between the archive and the UFPR.
In the afternoon, the members of the dbp digital project Aluísio Gonçalves and Elisabete Ferreira, from the Department of Informatics of the UFPR, and Fabiane Führ, employee of the library of the same institution, showed the visitors how the computer tools are developed and they presented the mask where the metadata will be inserted into the system.
Visiting another partner of the dbp digital project – the Public Archive of Paraná (APP) – the co-workers of the project Sibele Paulino and Leonardo Carneiro and our guests had the opportunity to see German newspapers available in this archive. They were shown by the team at the APP, Ricardo Zeppellini and the historians Maureen Elina Javorski and Marina Braga Carneiro. Another important subject of this meeting was also the report of the triangular cooperation between the dbp digital project, the Public Archive of Paraná and the National Library Foundation.
